Dannie's Dilemma
Carol Haldane a parent of a daughter with Asperger Syndrome recently sent a email to Autism Buddies regarding a new set of
books she has written.
"These books are unique in as much as they are interactive and it is the readers choice
as to how each story shall end, by writing books in this way, the idea is to encourage aspergers children to think through
social situations and maybe deal with daily problems differently by giving them examples of what could be done. Thus the reason
for the two separate endings to each story. These books are based on actual events that my daughter has faced and different
ways in which we have found to help her cope with the aspergers. We hope that maybe our solutions may help others in similar
situations and show others how these children cope with life on a daily basis. Although there is only one book in paperback
at present we are underway of publishing books 2 and 3. There are roughly in total 35 - 40 books in rough draft which we are
trying to get published roughly every six weeks or so. Thereby hopefully by Christmas there should be a varied amount of stories
available. The subjects covered in these books vary between, choices, literal thinking, friendships, bullying, moving to
secondary school, puberty, dangers, obsessions, remembering, following the crowd and wandering to name but a few. Our hope
is to get this information to as many parents, carers and professionals who deal with aspergers children and the children
themselves. We hope to have these books available to all children so as they may understand a little better about aspergers
syndrome. As I'm sure that many children have friends who have aspergers"
The books are available in both paperback
and Ebook formats.

Spread the Word
When I decided to set up a support group online for the ASD community (which I am gladly a part of).I had no idea of what
I was actually doing!! I just wanted to share the information that I had come across.
Originally the site was on Freewebs
and then I changed the design and moved to Fashosts. That's when it became interesting, I'm a novice, HTML and website jargon
are all new to me, so if the site looks a bit quirky - now you know why!!
Within the site, there are lots of articles
related to autism that have been republished from ArticleDepot, ArticleCat to name a few, simply because the articles seemed
really good!!
Information regarding autism ranges from awareness to advocacy to cure. Whatever your stance is on autism,
this site aims to cover as many aspects of ASD as possible, if only to initiate debate.
I'll try and update the site
as often as possible:
Updates in the next few weeks will be information about: Intervention Respite and Playschemes Therapies Entitlements Special
Schools
and much more.....
Thanks for visiting

All about Autism Buddies
Autism Buddies has been set up by a foster carer who wanted to share information about autism with families, parents and carers.
Having
worked with children and families in the ASD community, I found that sharing experiences and supporting each other helps.
There
are no specific terms of use for this site, however I acknowledge everyone has different views regarding autism - the information
on Autism Buddies is purely for reference purposes. Medical advice should always be sought.
If you know anyone that
can benefit from this site, please spread the word.
Feel free to email suggestion, stories or information: autismbuddies@yahoo.co.uk
Thank
you for visiting:)
